I LOVED this dress when I was little.
I think I called it my "Zoom" dress, from the TV show. Anyone else remember that?

Now I'm sure I didn't imagine the Zoom show, because here is a picture,

FP reminded me that we had a Halloween party to attend this evening, so I had to speed up my Halloween costume work this afternoon:

Relia discovered a bag of our old clothes at mom & dad's last night. 'course, she's a much better model than I am.

 

It was her idea to get the bench and pose straight faced. Now she wants to get out her "knitting" and be "Little Grandma" on Little House on The Prairie.

Swimmy

Miss Relia is finally swimming. This is her second stab at the pike class at the YMCA. She wasn't making any progress half way through and I was getting a little frustrated paying for classes that weren't making any difference. I knew it was her trepidation that was keeping her from progressing, and that she needed a little pressure to get going. I told her that it is very important to me & FP that she learn how to swim (without floaties), so that she can be safe and have fun in the water. I asked her if there was a reward we could give her if she passed her class. She she'd like to go visit Aunt Heidi in Seattle. Umm. no. Daddy came up with a trip to Edinborough Park. So that was the prize. We talked about listening to her teachers, and trusting them to keep her safe.

And today while Felix and I did our swimming, I kept watching Rellie, to see if she was swimming. Every time I looked over, all the kids had floaties. I got nervous. There is only one more lesson! But when our time was up, and Felix and I were walking up the ramp out of the pool, Who came paddling over to us? RELIA!

We're so very proud of her.

Bikey

Last weekend, I was cleaning up the garage, putting the outside toys away and happened to pull out Relia's new bike. We got it at the beginning of the summer and after a little tune up from Uncle Ry, and the addition of some training wheels, it was ready to go. But, I didn't tighten one of the training wheels enough. It slipped, and Relia fell. That was the end of the big bike.

Until now.

I convinced her to give it another try. She was uncomfortable with the wobbly-ness of it, but I told her she needed to get used to wobbling, because our big goal is to have no training wheels, and then it would be really wobbly.

After a couple of treks up and down the block with me holding on to her shirt, she felt ready to go it alone.

Catching up

Leo and I are sick with colds. He is handling it much better than me. I've powered through the week at work, but man, I am in need of a good nap today. Unfortunately, it looks like the boys are going to tag team me, while FP & Relia head down to Austin for Halloween warm-up. While they play on the floor I'm gonna catch up on some blogging:

Sitting up

Leo has been busy growing up. He started sitting by himself this week. Not reliably, but last week, he just flopped forward as soon as I sat him on the blanket. Now he is reaching for everything he can get and tasting it.
