Are we raising a super villain?

Third Child at the zoo :)

FP wasn't feeling well this morning so I took the kids to the zoo.
I don't even think about taking pictures at the zoo anymore. Isn't that sad?
But a little while after we arrived, I realized this was the first time I'd been with Leo when he was old enough to have any interest in the animals. He wasn't sure what to do at our first stop, but as some other little ones his age started waving at the penguins he got the idea.

He insisted on holding my right hand almost all the time. Because that is the side that FP can see. Leo has been well trained that the adult should be on his left.

Thinking of Rachel & Annika in Japan as we watched the snow monkeys huddle with their babies.

These cold days

they are killer. No school AND we can't go outside?!

It's bumper car time!

Fancy

Aurelia wanted to watch our wedding video today.
Then she asked to try on my dress.

Then she changed clothes and said "You didn't look as fancy as this though."

Lucky

I got to present some game changing information to my fellow math specialists today.
I am so grateful for my amazingly smart and supportive colleagues. Some days I feel a little like Sisyphus as people nod and try to teach math in more child centered ways, but then fall back into old habits.  The people who don't understand what math can really be. It is so energizing to spend time with like minded people. I can't imagine trying to do my job without them.

Poor Jiggity Jig

I wasn't feeling well Monday so I decided not to work, but I needed to drop off some plans. I went in for a short time , came home and parked on the street. In the hour between when I got back and FP took the kids to daycare, someone had hit BOTH of our cars. Shattered the side mirror of the van and cracked the rear panel of the Ion.

So now the Felix and Relia are telling me that they feel bad for our van, Jiggity jig.

Poor Jiggity jig.

Gi Gi

None of my kids has had what they call an "attachment object" or security blankety type thing.

Until now...

Meet GiGi. That is Gigi with a hard "G".

GiGi is Leo's blanket that he wants with him all the time.

When things get rough, only GiGi understands.
(But he can't help but smile & say "cheese" when a camera shows up)

I'm kinda pleased that I happened to take these pictures with GiGi when he was small.

Mr. Mike Wallus

This is my boss. Well, my district boss. He is amazing. Seriously. every conversation I have with him I learn something, but I also come away feeling valued and knowledgeable. I have learned a ton about math educatio and my role as a leader from this guy. We are so lucky to have him in our district.

He was in the paper -the online edition, this week. He's going to meet the president because he is such an awesome math teacher. How cool is that? I don't know, I guess I just want to be able to say I knew him when.
