Dry!

I wet the bed off and on until I was almost 12.
It sucked.
It super sucked.
Now I know it was just about how my body grew. There wasn't anything I could have done about it.

In the past few weeks Relia has been dry every single night!
This such great news, both $$$-wise and for her esteem as we get into the age in which girls want to have sleepovers.

Felix DeFive!

Felix had his party today. I'll be out of town on his real birthday next week.

Wow. Boy parties are different than girl parties.
So crazy loud.
All the time.

Felix is a quiet kid, and he was a bit perturbed at the noise level.
His favorite girl came. So did his teacher!

We made a “Pin the Head on Optimus Prime” game. Felix helped paint it, Relia traced the heads and Felix colored them.

This morning, Felix decided to write guests' names on all of the Optimus Prime heads.

We played outside on the swing set and played a flop of a musical chairs game.
The Optimus Prime game was a hit.

Who cares about candles? I get a transformer tank!

After cake and presents Felix said, very seriously, "I want party time to be over." to the whole room.  (You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here).

He got the Transformer cake he had his heart set on, and a TON of Lego sets.
So once the guests left, He sat down and began to build.
All evening he built Lego sets. So fun to watch.

Felix at college

A year or so ago Felix took part in a child development study at the U of M. Last month, he asked me when he would get to go back. I happened to get a request from the U recently and since he was so interested, I signed him up.

He had a blast today. He got to play games and play with toys. For part of the time they fit an EEG net on him to record his brain waves while he played a space game on a computer.

He was so patient through the fitting (though he told them several times how anxious he was to play the computer game). When he was all done, the researcher told me that Felix completed all of the games and got 10 out of 10 on the last game -which is unusual. Felix was pretty pleased with the games and the toy he got to pick at the end. It was a camouflage foam airplane. He everyone, "I think I made the right choice. There were bigger ones, but this is the one I wanted."

Leo's Party

It was a long day for our little guy waiting for his party to start.
Once it did he was a super happy birthday boy. (He's showing off his dimple here)

Relia and Felix got some gifts from Japan from Grandma D

I looked around today and thought about how lucky our kids are to have so many great people who love them. They don't even know how awesome that is. Additionally, it is pretty amazing to me that my littlest boy is almost 3 years old.

Leo the lion's birthday cake

Did you know Target sells undecorated cakes? When I suggested a lion birthday cake, I was thinking plastic lion on top. He had this picture in mind:

After some image searches, and the awesome target discovery, I was able to make this happen:
I think he's going to love it!

Spring Break Academy

I signed on to do spring break academy again this year. The pay is outrageous, I can teach whatever I want, and I could bring Relia with me. I was supposed to have a class of 12, but I had 16 registered and only 8 showed.  I decided that in addition to cool math stuff, we would do bubble experiments.

Can we make bubbles in shapes?

What stuff can we use to make bubbles?
