I'm so jealous

Of Carrie's hipstamatic app, that I had to head back into Photoshop to try to mimic it. All I managed was the grungy edges.

Carrie is spreading this idea. I can't wait to see what Peder's looks like. 1. What is your first name?
2. What is your favorite food?
3. What high school did you go to?
The tower near my high school by the same name.
4. What is your favorite color?
5. Who is your celebrity crush?
I love the count from sesame street (I'm also fond of the number 7). Really, I can't think of anyone.
6. Favorite drink?
This is too funny. This happens to be a photo of a bar half a block away from my school. One day I had no cash and got a cheap (it says $2.50 in chalk on the door) vodka collins. It was awful.
7. Dream vacation?
A beach somewhere sunny and warm with a good book
8. Favorite dessert?
Ooey gooey warm pudding cake
9. What you want to be when you grow up?
Teacher :o)
10. What do you love most in life?
My little Jellyfish
11. One Word to describe you.
Creative
12. Your flickr name.

Props to my hubby

Yesterday was hard.
Relia was being a big cry baby all day. Nothing was right for more than 10 minutes unless I was holding her and standing up. I did pretty well, but around 4:00 I had had it and needed some relief. So off to nana and grampa's we went. The car ride settled her completely, and when we got there she acted like nothing had ever been wrong in her whole life. But after a while this situation also became unacceptable.

I had planned to have dinner with my friend Ellen, but wasn't sure how we'd handle my screaming baby at the Malt Shop. So Nana and grandpa graciously offered to take babysit in exchange for a chocolate malt.

After dinner, the stomach issues I've been battling all weekend resurfaced. I quickly dropped off Ellen and made a dash for home. Peder met me at the door and took over baby from there. He got her fed and all ready for bed while I curled up into a ball on the couch. He then put her in her crib. Every time she started yelling, let her cry it out for a few minutes, put her rasser back in and just let her be. She fell asleep after about 6 rounds of drop the rasser and slept all night. I of course had to have the motion sensing monitor on, but neither of us woke up at all.

So I guess she'll be sleeping in there from now on. I did miss seeing that smiling face right next to me when I woke up, but I suppose this is just the first step of a long journey of letting my baby grow up.

Where did the weekend go?

another day, my kingdom for another day!
Not really , I'd rather keep my kingdom.

Technically I only had one day, since I spent all of Saturday editing. Peder went to play with dolls, er, I mean, miniatures. Relia got to go hang out with grandpa Ken for the day. She was all prepared to build something in her bib overalls complete with hammer loop, but they just folded clothes and took a few naps.

(what on earth do baby clothing designers think babies do all day?)

Ozzie learned a new trick:

Relia looks cute in her hat

Auntie Ellen visited (Happy birthday Ellen!)

And today I woke up early so we could finally get our Christmas tree. I probably say this every year, but it's amazing how what looks like a dinky tree in the field, is huge in your living room. I was freezing my poor fingers off looking for the perfect tree. I wound up hastily picking a terribly crooked one. When I got it all set up in the stand, I was faced with two choices, either let it lean waaaay back, or tie it to the wall to keep it from tipping over. I chose the latter. I'll put up pictures later.

Before I could set up the tree, I wanted to put plastic film on the windows in the porch . They are awfully drafty. Being the self-proclaimed queen of plastic window film, I was kinda excited. (Seriously, I am REALLY good at putting it up so if you ever need help, call me.) It went up well and really does make a difference in the draft.

Went to Carrie's shower this afternoon. It was fun. Good food. Relia and I got to meet Claire for the first time. Carrie is looking cute I can't wait to meet her little one.

Got home and felt beat. Took a long nap with Relia and then we watched Music and Lyrics. I intended to edit today, but now it is 11PM. Time for bed.

Good night.

The standings

Congratulations Aunt Carrie, winner of the Godot baby pool! Don't be too jealous, all she wound up getting was bragging rights. Relia exceeded all guesses for due date and her Mom says thank you to those who held off guesses that went into September ;o)

A mom could get used to this

I'm still very suspicious about it, but Relia slept a good five hours last night. I woke her up at 5:30 to feed her. I probably should just enjoy it and say a prayer of thanks, but being a new mom, I worry that something must me wrong with my sleepy child. Of course, as Peder will attest to, she spends a good deal of her day time awake and alert.

We had all sorts of good intentions for errands to accomplish yesterday, well, at least I did. But none of them got done. Instead, I did a good bit of editing and spent time tidying up the house. We did go out for a walk around the neighborhood in the evening. Because of "West Nile" disease, I am paranoid about 'Relia and mosquitos. I can't take my eyes off of her. I haven't paid much attention to them for a long time. For much of my life I have been immune to mosquito bites. They bite me, but not often, and the bites don't itch. My brother has the same amazing immunity. I hope 'Relia inherits it. On Wednesday I got bitten on my wrist and the next day I had a little raised bump that itched for about a half an hour. It could have been psychosomatic, but I'd be so bummed if that being pregnant has taken away that gift. It already seems to have taken away my super human parallel parking skills.

Holly also stopped by to drop off some banana bread. So sweet! It was good to see her. It is kind of funny, since I really only met her once at Carrie & Steve's wedding, but through her blog and us being pregnant almost simultaneously, I feel like she is a good friend.

Feeling human again

Took an actual shower this morning. I have been feeling too unsteady to take one up until today. I actually feel human. I can stand up straight and don't have to shuffle for every step. I was beginning to think this would never happen. baths and ibuprofin have helped tremendously. Momma spent the night. Thank God. I cannot imagine being a single mom or even doing this without having my parents right there. I know we'd survive and figure it out, but it is just so nice to have that back up right there. (I'm crying now).

Lots of wake up time this morning. Dad came over this morning with his mover and weed whacker to attack our jungle of a lawn. Peder lucked out this summer with the lack of rain, he hasn't had to mow much. Now that we are finally getting some, the lawn has gone crazy. What a wonderful thing to do for us. Now we don't have to hide our heads when we leave the house for fear the neighbors will give us dirty looks.

Ellen also came for a quick visit. It is fun to show off our new addition.
