Something exciting to report

But not a good something.
We had our first visit to Children's ER tonight. Everything is FINE, so don't worry.
Lots of kids live productive lives with only nine fingers, and sometimes they even grow back.

Kidding.

I noticed that Relia was crying and holding her crotch at intervals this evening. I called our pediatrician's nurse line, and they said we should bring her to the ER.
Ugh.
I happened to be at my parent's house so mom drove us. At least things were slow there. We were concerned about a UTI so they had to use a catheter to get a urine sample. Relia knew there was something up and started to get upset and insisted on leaving. She refused to sit on the bed and did not want books or toys, or cartoons. After the ordeal, she was fine. Jumping on the bed, singing, marching around. It is amazing how tuned in kids are. She knew something bad was coming, and she knew when the worst was over. She was happy as a clam with a Popsicle. A cherry Popsicle.

I remember when I was in the very same ER, well it was on the other side of the building then, eating an orange Popsicle with my nursemaid's elbow. It seemed like torture, because they would only let me eat the Popsicle with my sore arm.

So the test results said there was no infection, and they think it is probably just irritation from the hot weather. So, hopefully, we can just let her run around naked for a bit and all will be well.

  1. I'm glad she's okay. Please give her a hug and kiss from me.

  2. Running around naked is always a good idea. Especially when you're wearing diapers/potty training and you're damp. Well, at least I like to run around naked.

  3. Glad everything is okay. Taking your kids to the ER is never fun.

  4. I guess I'm kinda glad we had the experience with a not so scary problem. When we got there, I had no idea where to park, or exactly where to go.
